Dolores Huerta Adelita Award

California Labor Commissioner

Julie A. Su is a nationally recognized expert on workers' rights and civil rights who has dedicated her distinguished legal career to advancing justice on behalf of poor and disenfranchised communities. A MacArthur Foundation "Genius," Su was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown and assumed the position of California Labor Commissioner in April 2011, overseeing staff in 18 offices across the state. She is the first Asian American to serve as California Labor Commissioner.

Domingo Ulloa Cultural Worker Award


Luis Valdez is receiving the Domingo Ulloa Cultural Worker Award for his spirit of expressionism through art and his commitment to social justice.

He founded the internationally renowned and Obie Award-winning El Teatro Campesino (The Farm Workers' Theater) in 1965 during the United Farm Workers (UFW) struggle and the Great Delano Grape Strike in California's Central Valley.

Community Leadership Award


Robin S. Toma is Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations Commission. He also serves as the head of the Human Relations Branch holding the position of Assistant Director of the department of Community and Senior Services, County of Los Angeles. Under his leadership, the agency is working to transform prejudice into acceptance, inequity into justice, and hostility into peace.
