CRLA’s Lisa Cisneros Receives Governor’s Appointment
to the Fair Employment and Housing Council
Sacramento, California –Lisa Cisneros, CRLA’s LGBT Program Director, has been appointed to the California Fair Employment and Housing Council. The FEHC promulgates regulations enforcing California’s housing and employment discrimination laws, as well as laws against discrimination in state-funded programs. The FEHC also conducts inquiries, issues publications and the results of research, reporting to the Governor and Legislature regarding efforts to reduce unlawful discrimination and advance civil rights.
Cisneros will continue in her current role as CRLA’s LGBT Program Director, which she has held since 2014. CRLA’s LGBT program is dedicated to advocating on behalf of low-income lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals and their families in rural California. The program serves as a model for LGBT legal assistance nationwide. Cisneros was an associate at Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP from 2012 to 2014 and served as a law clerk at the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California from 2010 to 2012. She is a member of the National Center for Lesbian Rights Board of Directors. Cisneros earned her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
