2015 Summer Interns

Lizbeth Mateo interned in our Oakland office and is a rising 3L attending the Santa Clara University School of Law.

Q: Why did you decide to intern with CRLA?
A: The chance to work on behalf of farmworkers and the indigenous communities for a summer means so much to me. This is my dream work and the reason I went to law school. I cannot imagine being anywhere else. Also, when I told my mentor that I received an offer from CRLA and Cynthia Rice, he said: "You have to work with Cynthia Rice. She is a legend!" You don’t say no to working with a legend!

Q: What are projects are you working on this summer with CRLA?
A: This summer I'm working with Cynthia Rice and Maureen Keffer, the director of CRLA’s Indigenous Program, on employment and education cases, as well as working on projects related to language access and indigenous communities. I'm excited to be able to collaborate on several projects and learn about the different needs of the communities that CRLA helps.

Q: What are some of your other interest?
A: I love art. Mostly because of my favorite artist, my brother- Danny Mateo. He is a young painter, graffiti artist, tattoo artist, and lucha libre fan based in Los Angeles. You need to look at his website because it is amazing! https://instagram.com/dannymateo/
